Hey, friends! I hope you're having an amazing March so far. I'm not quite ready to come back to blog, but it will be soon. I promise. Instead, I wanted to explain to you a little bit about Humble Bundle.
First of all, I want to say that I am truly honored and humbled to have been chosen to take part in such a fabulous program. The other authors involved are amazing and wonderful, and I'm thrilled to be with them!
How it works:
There are three tiers of books to choose from. You pick how much you want to pay, and depending on that amount, it gives you access to the various tiers. If you only pay a little, you get access to the first tier. However, if you decide to pay $15 or more, you get access to all three tiers. And there are a lot of amazing books to read!
The best part about the whole thing is that it gives you the opportunity to support charity. You can either support Freedom of the Press Foundation, Prevent Cancer, or choose your own. You can't lose! Not only do you get some amazing books, you get to make an impact on the world!
These bundles only last for a limited time. I hope you take a moment to see what's there and maybe purchase a tier. We all thank you from the bottom of our heart. YOU ROCK!
You can find the Emerging Sci Fi and Thriller Authors bundle here.

In the meantime, I have to tell you how excited I am about the promotion Booktrope is doing. The response has been amazing and overwhelming, and the exposure has placed my books on the charts. I can't even believe that. It is seriously mind blowing.

Katie wants to invest her heart and soul in love, but she may lose both to Hell. Katie, a senior in high school, is torn between loving the “good” guy, her childhood friend Wes who makes promises he doesn't keep and abandons her when she needs him the most, and the “bad” guy, the new kid at school Josh who is also a real demon from Hell. Katie wants someone who pays attention to her and puts her first, but what is she willing to give up to find him?
Seventeen-year-old Krista must quickly figure out how she's going to survive in the zombie-destroyed world. The one advantage humans have is that the zombies hate humid environments, so they're migrating west to escape its deteriorating effects. The survivors plan to construct a wall at North Platte to keep the undead out, and Krista has come to Nebraska to start a new life.
Zombies aren’t the only creatures she has to be cautious of—the other survivors have a dark side. Krista must fight not only to live but also to defend everything she holds dear—her country, her freedom, and ultimately, those she loves.

Life After the Undead Has Been Re-released
Yesterday, Life After the Undead was re-released into the world. It has a new cover and I made some changes to the text. All in all, it’s not a new story, but it’s an improved one.
This zombie novel is one of my favorites. It was so much fun to write. I was happy with it when it came out, but I’m delighted with it now. It’s not often that I get the chance to make corrections to a story, but I’m so happy I had the opportunity to edit it.
If you get the chance, check it out. If you’ve read it before, I would love to hear what you think of the changes.

Compliments from My First Reader
My wonderful and amazing book manager (hi, Pam!) paid me the most wonderful compliment the other day. She had the opportunity to read the rough draft of Good Intentions, and she told me it gave her nightmares about demons!
My intention wasn't to give anyone nightmares, and it sucks that her dreams were riddled with horrific images, but at the same time, I can't help but feel proud of myself. It makes me happy to know my book had that kind of effect. Especially this book.
I've had my doubts about Good Intentions. With it being the third book in the series, I wanted to make sure it lived up to readers' expectations but was still surprising. If it caused nightmares, it must have been.
The editor is supposed to be getting to it in the next couple of weeks, then the process should go fairly quickly to get it into the world. For those of you who have been waiting ever so patiently for it to come out, it's close. I will let you know when it gets closer.
I'm excited to see what the rest of you think about the book. I'm not expecting it to cause nightmares for everyone, but if it does, hooray!

Being Part of Something Big
Earlier this week, it was announced that Booktrope, one of the publishers I am published with, had made a deal with Amazon. THEN, I recently found out that they also made a deal with Intellectual Property Group to bring books to Hollywood. I couldn't believe it!
Of course this news is incredibly exciting. It could mean big things for authors, and I'm so happy to be part of that group. It's going to be interesting to see how it works out.
When I first thought about submitting to Booktrope, I was incredibly hesitant. I mean, I already had a couple indie publishers (who are absolutely amazing and fabulous), why would I want to add another one to my list? It seemed silly to me. Then, I met Wendy on Facebook, and she was so nice and so sweet and so proud of what she was doing with Booktrope, she convinced me to give them a try.
When the book was finally finished and I was ready to submit, Booktrope was closed to submissions. I figured that was probably a sign, but Wendy had read the manuscript and really liked it, so she talked to Katherine (one of the co-founders), who was willing to publish the book based on Wendy's recommendation. It was awesome.
You can really tell a lot about a publishing company by the way they talk to their authors. Both Wendy and Katherine conference called me to explain to me what Booktrope was all about and answer any questions I might have. I was still unsure at that point about publishing with them, but talking to them calmed my fears and hesitancy, and I couldn't wait to be part of the team.
Incidentally, the only other publishing company I spoke to was Scarecrow Press, who published Life Lessons from Slasher Films. At the time, another publisher was interested in the book, and the editor at Scarecrow really wanted it, so he went that extra mile to persuade me to publish with them.
And it worked. It's so nice to know that a publisher is invested in you and your work.
Recently, Wendy had to step down as my book manager, after doing an amazing job. Pam became my new book manager, and she is just amazing. Even though I've never met her in person, I feel like we're friends. The relationships that are formed between author and book manager are just amazing.
I don't regret submitting my manuscript to Booktrope, and I wouldn't hesitate submitting more. In fact, they are the ones who will be publishing Undead Obsessed and Dealing with Devils. I have more books brewing in my mind, including another zombie novel, and you better believe I'm going to let Booktrope publish them if they want to.

Publishing Milestones
There are many milestones in an author's life that make us do a little happy dance. The first is getting the story finished. Then, it's editing it to the point where we feel we can send it out to agents/publishers/whoever. Next is getting the story accepted. After that, it's getting the cover. And finally, it's getting the physical copies of the books in the mail.
This last one is better than Christmas. There is nothing more magical than seeing the fruits of your labor before your eyes. It's amazing to be able to hold your baby and cradle it against your chest. It's a very exciting time.
I had an awesome week this week because of the release of The Appeal of Evil. There were fantastic blog posts and promotion for the book, which will continue into February. Help me celebrate this milestone by happy dancing with me. And if you get the chance, purchase a copy of the book.

The Appeal of Evil Release Day
It's finally out! I hope you will join me in celebrating the release of my newest YA book. There are several giveaways and fun to be had. If you want to order the book, you can get it here.
Special thanks goes out to Wendy (my book manager) and Booktrope for believing in this book. I am also super thankful for my wonderful team that helped whip this baby into shape. I couldn't have done it without you!

Behind the Story...The Appeal of Evil
My mind has a tendency to wander. If given half a chance, I'll stare off into space and let my thoughts take me where they may. One day, I was thinking about teen love and the process girls go through to find a boyfriend. It was because of the Twilight series and Stephen King and the fact that he doesn't like the series and hasn't been quiet about it. Technically, Stephen King probably shouldn't like these books. They weren't written for him. They were written for teenage girls. He shouldn't be able to relate to what Bella is going through. If he can relate to the experiences of a teenage girl, I'd be a little worried. And curious.
As these thoughts were swirling through my head, I started to wonder why Bella found Edward so charming. Why was she drawn to his "bad boy" attitude? That thought then ventured into the idea that girls and women always seem to be drawn to the bad boy. There is this idea that we can change them, make them better, and it is socially acceptable to get emotionally hurt going after this "noble" cause.
I smirked inwardly. Why is this all right? Why do nice guys always finish last? What happens if the guy you're going after is really, truly evil, like from the pits of Hell? What would happen then?
The light bulb clicked on, and I decided to explore that notion. As a teenager, we know so very little about what it means to be in love or what it really takes to make a relationship work. However, we have to start somewhere and learn and grow. Katie is simply trying to figure out what it means to be in love. She wants to be the center of someone's world, their reason for existing, and she wants to feel that way about someone else. Haven't we all been there at one point in time? Maybe at some point we found that with someone who was completely wrong for us. But we were told that we could change them. We were told we could make them better.
And, more than likely, we probably tried. Maybe we were successful. Maybe we weren't. But along the way, we learned something about ourselves and love. The bad boy can be incredibly appealing, especially when he's viewed as a challenge. But "good" guys can be just as challenging, and the other point of the story is that "good" and "bad" aren't always clear cut and easy to recognize. There are gray areas; ones that are confusing and full of hurt. How do you cope with those? The Appeal of Evil tries to answer those questions.

Time for My Own
I don't think I've mentioned recently how awesome my team is at Booktrope. My editor returned edits for The Appeal of Evil a few weeks ago, and I'm only now getting a chance to look at them. I actually have time to work on them this week! I'm very excited about that. The book will be one step closer to publication!
As always, I will keep you informed of when the book comes out. I'm very excited about this one, and I'm going to do my best to get you excited too!
