Danube Adele wrote her first romance at the age of seven when she penned the story of her dogs falling in love and having puppies. She’s been dreaming up romantic tales ever since. A lifetime resident of southern California, she spends time playing at the beach, camping in Joshua Tree National Park, and hiking Mammoth Mountain.
Always a lover of adventure, she and her husband took their sons on a cross country road trip to Florida and back in an old VW Westfalia, that had no A/C, in the month of July, and still, it continues to be the best trip they ever took. Extensive travel and trying new things has kept the creative spark alive. Danube lives in Claremont with her biggest fans, her loving husband, amazing and wonderful identical twin sons, and a teddy bear of a Rottweiler.
Her debut novel, Quicksilver Dreams, Book 1 of the Dreamwalker series was officially released January 6, 2014.

Q) What inspired you to write this story? There was a book I read that was absolutely fantastic, a page turner that I could not put down. It was written in the first person and full of unexpected adventure, wit, and sizzle. I’d never tried writing in the first person before and thought I’d give it a try. I absolutely loved it. Being able to put myself in the character’s shoes really helped me bring the story to life in a fun, creative way. In a sense, it’s like acting and writing at the same time. So, my experiment turned into a full-length novel, and the day it sold, I did a happy dance around my house.
Q) How long did it take you to write? I played with the story for more than a year, having the luxury of no deadline to worry about. I would work on it consistently for a time, get distracted by family, life, my job, and walk away. After a time, the characters would call to me again, and I’d come back. It wasn’t the best way to write a story, I had to keep rereading to find the thread of where I left off before I could continue, and I went through the usual rollercoaster of emotions, feeling excited, then horribly overwhelmed, then loving it again. All-in-all, from start to sold was approximately two years.
Q) What is your favorite thing about writing? It’s exciting when the stories that run through my mind, the fabulous characters with brazen lines of dialogue that I wish I could think up spontaneously in my own life (probably good that I can’t), get to come to life on the page. It sounds silly, but on a good day, I can make myself laugh and cry and many things in between. When I’m in my groove, the line between reality and fiction starts to fade, and it feels as though I’m in my own world.
Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing? Deadlines stress me out. I get to thinking about when something is due, and how much I have to do, and being that I’m an extremely responsible person, I want to not only turn in fantastic edits, but I want to do so on time. What I need to work on is not fixating on how much time I have to do something, but on just getting it done, right? Deadlines are not going to go away if I plan to continue within this profession.
Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?Who wouldn’t want to be royalty for the day? I wouldn’t want to be Queen Elizabeth or anything, but it would be a blast to be Kate Middleton. Can you imagine the history that surrounds her? What does she have access to that us regular Joe’s and Jane’s will never have a chance to see? Just having access to the private quarters of Buckingham Palace would be cool beans, much less how many other truly wonderful antiques, old books and documents that she could study if she were to ask.
Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it? With two growing boys and a large man in the house, very little food has time to get old in the fridge. However, having said that, condiments in the side door can become well aged over years. I’ll buy some ingredient that I need for a recipe and only use it once. Example? Horse radish. I used it with some kind of shrimp sauce years ago, and the bottle it comes in is just small enough that it gets overshadowed by the ketchup bottle, Worcestershire sauce, and bottles of my new favorite, apple ale. This was actually an excellent question because it got me to clean out the side door of my fridge! Everyone in the house let out a cheer at which time I stated that they could easily have done the same thing at any time. They really didn’t need to wait for me. (-;
Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?Quicksilver Dreams is the first book in the Dreamwalker series. The second book tentatively titled Dreams of a Wild Heart is nearly through the editing process and is scheduled for release in June, 2014. Book #3 does not yet have a title, but is in the process of being written.
