Romance author Sofia Grey spends her days managing projects in the corporate world and her nights hanging out with wolf shifters and alpha males. She devours pretty much anything in the fiction line, but she prefers her romances to be hot, and her heroes to have hidden depths. When writing, she enjoys peeling back the layers to expose her characters’ flaws and always makes them work hard for their happy endings.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
I read a magazine article about a celebrity family, living their perfectly happy life in their gorgeous house, and I wondered what it would be like when they closed the doors. The idea of peeling back the layers to expose the reality fascinated me. What if they fought like cat and dog in private, but had to smile and play nicely for the media?
The idea of Josh Delaney as a character had been brewing for a while, and this was the ideal opportunity to introduce him.
The Grey Mansion that features so prominently is a real house that I’ve gazed at many times from a distance and it features throughout the entire series as the paranormal story arc develops. I’ve no idea who owns it or lives there and I’d love to speak to the owners some day. Like Josh Delaney, I find the place utterly mesmerizing.
Q) How long did it take you to write?
The first draft took around three months, then there were multiple revisions and tweaks before it finally went to Time & Tide Publishing.
Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
I love starting a new story, creating fresh and vibrant characters, and tricky situations for them. The whole time from a-spark-of-an-idea to writing the first chapter is exciting. I especially love that first moment when the vague idea crystallizes into a real plot with potential.
Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Revisions… and when you think the revisions are all done, finding a typo half way through and having to go back and check it all again…
Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Hmmm… how about whichever actress happened to be starring in a romantic movie with Ian Somerhalder? I’d have to snog him… * swoon * It might take a lot of practicing…
Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Okay, I had to actually go and check: it’s the remnants of a bottle of peach schnapps. We bought it a couple of years ago on a trip to the South Island of New Zealand.
Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
Obsession is book #1 in the Talisman series and hopefully book #2, Craving, will be out towards the end of the year. I also have the first in a shifter series (Wolf At The Door, Snowdonia Wolves #1) that was released a month ago, and plan to have the second in that series coming out this year too.
This was a fun interview, thank you.
