Q) What inspired you to write this story?
RB: The story is the third story in the Dragon’s Keep series. I wanted to tell a story about dragon shifters already in the keep and expand the world of the dragon shifters. Moreover, Zihao’s plight, being a guardian to a woman he loves but cannot have, presented a writing challenge. I wanted to explore his mindset, the conditions for that situation and how—if possible—would it be resolved.
Q) How long did it take you to write?

Q) How long did it take you to write?
RB: Earthen took roughly four months to write.
Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
RB: My favorite thing about writing is world-building and tossing characters into situations and watching what happens next. Sometimes they surprise me.
Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
RB: My least favorite thing about writing is surprisingly writing the first paragraph. Those are the toughest lines and they are the most important when setting the tone of the story.
Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
RB: If I could be a famous person for one day, I would love to Oprah Winfrey. She affects so many people’s lives, and brings so much joy. I would really enjoy the opportunity to be that person for a day.
Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
RB: The oldest thing in my fridge is a bottle of blackberry wine. It has been there since Thanksgiving.
Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
RB: In the future, readers can expect a bear shifter story I’m currently writing and another paranormal story that includes a psychic.
