Ever since Abby Niles picked up her first Sweet Valley High book in sixth grade and fell in love with Elizabeth and Todd, she’s been hooked on romance. By the time she reached high school, she was devouring meatier romances with pirates, cowboys and knights. She never imagined that those years of reading would one day lead to her becoming a published author.
In her late twenties, after having twins and becoming a stay-at-home mom, she started doodling stories to keep her sanity. Next thing she knew, she was actually submitting to publishing houses. And was immediately rejected. That didn’t stop her though. She found herself some kickass critique partners, honed her craft, and continued submitting.
And eventually sold a short story, then a novella, then a novel, and now a series.
Today, she juggles work, home life, and writing. It’s not always easy, but hey, who said life was easy?
In her downtime, which isn’t often, you can find her playing ‘Just Dance’ with her kids or trying to catch up on her never-ending to-be-read list. She also loves Zumba, and refuses to admit she looks more like Animal doing his Muppet flail than a sensual Latin dancer.

Shifter, Liam Doyle knows Hell. At least he believed he did. The night he feels his mate die, he learns how very wrong he was. Nothing he’d struggled with since Ava’s rejection compares to the emptiness that fills his soul by her death. Lost in his grief, he’s taken by surprise and drugged. When he wakes, everything changes. Nothing is what it seems, and someone is dead set on making him pay.
When Ava Michaels is taken captive, she’s thrust into a dark and terrifying world along with the man she was forced to leave behind. While being near Liam again is heartbreaking, the motive behind her kidnapping is gradually revealed. The more she learns, the more she worries Liam isn’t the man she believed him to be. He has enemies willing to do anything to extract their revenge. Can their love survive a crazy man’s vengeance?
Q) What inspired you to write this story?
I started questioning what would happen if the bonding could have serious consequences. What if that instinct wasn’t accurate? What if a shifter bonded himself to his mate and his mate then rejected him without bonding back? And Liam started to form in my mind. After that, the whole world took on a life of its own.
Q) How long did it take you to write?
I wrote The Awakening: Liam in 33 days and four weeks of crazy intense editing.
Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
The actual writing. I’m a pantser, so every moment I’m writing is an adventure.
Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Pimping myself out. I really struggle with this. I don’t know why. I will gush all day long about another author’s book I’ve loved it, but if you start asking questions about my writing, I immediately start clamming up. I’m getting better about it, but promo and talking about myself and my books has been my biggest hurdle.
Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
This would’ve been an easy question if Ian Somerhalder or Norman Reedus had girlfriends, but they don’t so this question just became way hard. I think I’m going to go with Jennifer Lawrence. Not only do I respect the fact that Hollywood hasn’t jaded yet, but I would LOVE to be on the set of Catching Fire or Mockingjay. My hometown is only about ten miles away from where they filmed District 12 for The Hunger Game. It was so cool to walk around that small mill town, I can’t imagine what it would be like to actually be on a set, with the camera and everything.
Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Hmm…I don’t think I want to answer this question. LOL. I’m a pretty positive there is some rancid leftover containers pushed to the back of my fridge that I’ve forgotten about. And, sadly, I have no idea how long they have been back there.
Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
The Awakening: Britton will tentatively release in November. Britton and Val were so much FUN to write. I can’t wait for their story to release. In December, the second book of my Love to the Extreme series releases. Fighting Love is Tommy and Julie’s story.
