Persuasion Skills by Laurel Cremant‏

Laurel is a romance author, who like most writers loves to read. Her first love (pun intended) has always been romance. From the sappy YA romance novel to the more risqué erotica novels, Laurel is a sucker for a good love story.

Laurel writes paranormal and contemporary romance and is a self proclaimed, out of the closet nerd. She admits that she can't seem to avoid adding a bit of "nerdology" or "geek-dom" to all of her books. Living in Miami, she also admits that she can't seem to avoid giving her heroines gorgeous shoes, "In Miami, we worship everything strappy, open toed and just plain hot!"

In the aftermath of a major health scare, Pepper Holts makes the relief-inspired decision to seize the day. Unfortunately, most of her “seizing” involves a bit of merlot and her best friend's pants! After a shared night of passion she realizes that her feelings for Jax are a lot more complicated than she ever thought.

Jax has finally realized that his allergy to marriage has nothing to do with the institution itself, and everything to do with the women in his bed—or more specifically, the one woman not in his bed. Her reaction to their one night together has him scrambling to regroup. So he does what he knows best—he disappears, and he thinks. The plan?—convince Pepper into staying with him at a secluded cabin for one week. One week of pretending to be a happily married couple to show her how great they could be together.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
The idea for this book had been kind of lingering in my mind for a while. I liked the idea of two friends perfectly suited, finding their way to love, but in all honesty it took me a while to commit to writing Pepper and Jax’s story. I felt that their history of friendship really needed to be handled just right to make a their chemistry and journey to love work.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
Once I finally got started I was able to finish the story in a little under three months. Admittedly, I would have finished much sooner, but I re-wrote the last three chapters fours times! I loved these characters so much, that I wanted them to have the happily ever after they deserved.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
That there is never a dull moment. Writing allows me to create worlds and manipulate them and all the characters that inhabit them to my heart’s content. It sounds kind of maniacal but it is so challenging and fun all at once.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Doing your imagination justice. Knowing what you want to write and how you want to do it is so much harder than actually sitting down and getting done. Imagining a glittering red evening gown that makes my hero’s mouth water is easy to conjure up in my head, but grueling to get out in actual words.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
No one. I’m a huge believer of the phrase “Be careful what you wish for”. Can you imagine being your favorite person for a day just to learn they’re a complete jackass? No thank you. I’d rather be a blissfully ignorant fan than find out my favorite author doesn’t wash their hands before leaving the bathroom, my favorite politician kicks puppies. or that my favorite musician cheats on their spouse.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Okay so I have to provide a little background here first. My major in college Microbiology and Immunology with double minors in Biology and Chemistry. That being said I’ve been known to let my curiosity get the best of me the oldest thing in my fridge right now is a a pair of organic plums that have been sitting in a paper bag within a fridge drawer for the last 3 months. I’m both morbidly curious and terrified of what I’ll find when I finally open that bag.,

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I’ll be releasing the next book in the Boardroom Acts series titled Acquisition Skills and a paranormal romance titled Cupcakes at Midnight by the end of the year. I’m excited about both books. Both
