Verses of Athine by Shannon McRoberts‏

My name is Shannon McRoberts. I am an independent artist, author, and poet. I have been self-publishing books of all kinds since 2005. My first book was a poetry book called Poetry for the Chronically Heart Broken and Depressed. That book has since been replaced with a more robust collection called Erosion of the Heart. I am currently working on bringing this book to paper format and expanded distribution through Smashwords.

My first ever sci-fi book, The Secret of Genetic Corp X, has been compared to Blade Runner. I am also currently working on having this book brought back to a paper edition.

My favorite series, The Daughter of Ares Chronicles, features Athine, an immortal born goddess that I created for the series. In this series, I take mythologies of all kinds and turn them on their ears!

When I am not working or creating fantasy worlds for my characters to live in I enjoy being lost in MMORPGs, good books, and in the company of my friends and family.

I currently live in Kentucky with my wonderful husband and beautiful daughter.

Take what you know about mythology and throw it out the window....
Do you have any idea what Zeus, Odin, Pandora's Box, Atlantis, Machu Picchu, Hera, Nike, Dragons, Vlad, Clones, and Vampires have in common? Athine does!

Athine is not your ordinary immortal born goddess. Learn of her mysterious origins, learn why Zeus hates her so much, find out where vampires come from, and learn what really happened to the dragons.

The Daughter of Ares Chronicles follows Athine as she uncovers the secrets of her destiny while interacting with key figures from many mythologies.

This printed version contains novellas one through four in one complete edition.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
I was sitting at home one day on maternity leave and I just had this idea of this Wonder Woman/Xena/Buffy like immortal goddess. I didn’t know what she would be doing or what would happen, but a few years later here I am with 4 books about her and her world!

Q) How long did it take you to write?
I started writing the first one in 2009. I just now got them all polished to the point that I can say they are finished.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
Being in control of the world and the characters you created. Having the twists and plots YOU want.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
The actual sitting down and getting it written and trying to make it all stay cohesive part. I think faster than I can type sometimes!

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Queen Elizabeth I of England. I would just like to see what it would have been like to be her in that time period.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
I don’t know. I would have to ask my husband. Probably the fruit drink my daughter didn’t like and it’s in a bottle and only a few weeks old!

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I will have Cursed Bloods , the next book in the series, out sometime I hope in 2014 or 2015. I also hope to get more poetry out there.
