I'm finally getting back to my novel. I've completed all my other writing tasks, so now it's time to have fun!
I have a friend, Jessica (I've mentioned her before), and she recently was contracted to write articles for a serial killer calendar. Normally, she writes for an agricultural magazine, but her true calling was to write about horror films. She originally got in contact with the people at the serial killer magazine because she wrote an article about serial killers and slasher films. Her intention was to only write one article, but since now she has written three total, and she has been asked to be a staff writer. It got me thinking, how many of us "fall" into writing that we might not have ever considered?
Personally, I have always wanted to write science fiction, and I was fortunate enough to get my first novel published, but I also find myself branching into the other genres. My next novel is a zombie, which might be considered horror (though I don't find it scary!), then I have plans to write a fantasy novel, and after that, a fantasy romance. I've written short stories in the western genre and in the dark fantasy genre. I think it's fun to explore different areas, although mine are all pretty closely related. I know my friend Jessica has learned a lot with her different writing experiences, she wouldn't do it if she didn't!
