Son of Dragons by Andrea Cooper‏

Growing up in Houston, Texas, Andrea has always created characters and stories. But it wasn't until she was in her late twenties that she started writing novels.

What happened that ignited the writing flame in her fingers? Divorced, and disillusioned by love songs and stories. They exaggerate. She thought. Love and Romance are not like that in the real world. Then she met her husband and realized, yes love and romance are exactly like the songs and stories say. She is now a happy wife, and a mom to three kids (two boys and a girl).

Andrea writes paranormal and historical romance. When not writing or reading, one may find Andrea dancing in Zumba.

She believes in the power of change and counting each moment as a blessing. But most importantly, she believes in love.

In a time of false peace, the dead rise as soldiers for the Warloc’s scheme. For thousands of years he has stood ready for the final battle. Though the witch and her cursed Elvin have destroyed his physical body, now with his protégé, he has honed a new way to wage war.

Shunned by her own people and weary-hearted from centuries of lost loves, Elvin warrior Mirhana scours the land to silence the undead. Her heart has turned as cold as the sword she wields, until a prince seeks her aid.

Never has Prince Landon met a woman like Mirhana. Both beautiful and deadly, she haunts his dreams. The battle at hand becomes more enchanting than fighting to remain true to his unseen betrothed.

When a traitor emerges, new alliances are tested and the only remaining hope is to follow the prophecy and find the ... Son of Dragons.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
Since Son of Dragons is Book 2 of the Legends of Oblivion series, I’ll first have to backrack a bit. After I wrote the first book The Garnet Dagger, I knew the story wasn’t finished. This first book was inspired by seeing the movie Underworld in the theaters. I thought if there can be (*spoiler alert) a vampire/werewolf hybrid, what if a vampire bit a creature of magic – an Elvin?

For Son of Dragons, the first book in the series and the idea of family secrets inspired me. What if a family hid their secret from their offspring – and what if it was being a dragon shifter. How would someone like that shift if they never knew they could or how?

Q) How long did it take you to write?
Son of Dragons, so far, has been the quickest first draft I have ever written. I finished it in less than three months and that was working full-time and having joint custody of my first son.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
I love discovering the story as I go. I am a panster, because I cannot stand outlines. When I write a story I have the main characters in mind, a few snatches of dialogue, and a rough idea of the ending –- but other than that, I’m experiencing the story as I write it.

Characters are always surprising me with dialogue, reveals, and new plot-twists.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
My least favorite thing about writing is marketing. I am a shy person and it is hard to try and ‘sell’ myself. I never did well in sales growing up – I was the one who only sold a few cookie tins in band while my peers had pages full of orders. I would rather talk one-on-one with someone or a small group of people than shouting on a street corner.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Excellent question. Hmmm…maybe J.K. Rowling and I would write a fabulous letter of Andrea R. Cooper’s work, and then I would travel to as much of the world as I could in the day.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Wait, let me go look … I found some withered lettuce in the bottom of a drawer, but it doesn’t have an expiration date. I’m pretty sure it’s the oldest thing in here as pathetic as it looks J

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
Lots! Here’s a list of what I’m working on now (yes, I like to have several things going on at once because multitasking makes my writers’ block run screaming) :

War of Darkness Book 3 Legends of Oblivion – re-writing
Untitled Viking Fire sequel - writing
YA Fantasy – writing
Stolen Hearts a contemporary romance – editing and rewriting the first two chapters
Cheyenne Storm and Cheyenne Gold two historical and paranormal romances – editing and rewriting the first chapter of Cheyenne Storm.
Short story romances – I plan to write 2-3 more short stories along with several other authors for an anthology. Our first one is Six Shades of Romance.
