Her soft golden skin, her warm smile…these are the only images Veronica Austin has left of her mother who disappeared without a trace twenty years ago on the streets of Minneapolis while researching the Ramanga, the Lamia, the Metusba, and the Lugat. Known only as the Deamhan, they are a different breed from the modern bloodsucking vampire.

A stranger to this world, Veronica’s search for the truth about her mother’s unexplained disappearance takes her into their sinister and precarious world. She gains the trust of the only other human familiar with the Deamhan lifestyle. With his help she finds not only can the Deamhan not be trusted but it’s her own father, president of a ruthful organization of researchers, who has diabolically maintained that distrust.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
I've always wanted to write a vampire novel. I just didn't know what type of vampire novel I wanted to write. I like vampire novels that are dark with little romance. At the time it was hard to find a novel like that so I decided I should write one. I also wanted to do something different when it came to vampires and that's when I started researching. As soon as I found out about psychic vampires, things started to take off.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
Deamhan took a little over 10 years to researching, plot, and write. Edits became the longest part of that journey. I've added and taken out so much in the story that, at one point, I had to take a break for a few months and come back just to understand where I wanted the plot to go.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
My favorite thing about writing is creating a universe out of nothing. I don't want to sound godlike, but I feel that as the writer, you have so much control over what's going on, who says what, and what characters do.

Then there are times when you feel like the character takes over, leading you in a direction you would've never thought about before.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Editing can be a drag sometimes but I don't think it's as worse as NOT writing.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
I would like to be the President but probably only for half a day. I don't think I could manage and come close to understanding what they have to deal with everyday. It's a lot of responsibility and hard work.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
I have this small can of Bob Marley Citrus Drink. I saw it at a convenience store and I really wanted to try it. It's suppose to mellow you out. I've been sipping on it for about two weeks now. It's still good.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
Currently I'm working on the third book in the Deamhan Chronicles called Revelation. I'm also working on Deamhan Tales. These are short stories exclusive to those who sign up for my newsletter. They take place in between certain novels. Deamhan Tales: Kei, is going to be the first released later this year. It takes place between the first and second book.

I also have a serial called Sphere that's currently available on Amazon. It's a young adult novel.
