An award-winning playwright, Karen Greco has spent close to twenty years in New York City, working in publicity and marketing for the entertainment industry. Half vampire, half human, Nina Martinez spent most of her life underground as part of an elite secret team of government agents that quietly take down rogue monsters, the human world none the wiser. But Nina's investigation unearths deadly secrets from her long buried parents. Now the target of supernatural assassins, could Nina be the most dangerous vampire hybrid to ever exist? No wonder she can’t get a date.

An urban fantasy set in a decaying Providence, Rhode Island, HELL'S BELLE is a fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled roller-coaster ride through a city on the cusp of becoming an urban wasteland. HELL'S BELLE is an energetic, expansive, and cinematic beginning of a new series in the urban fantasy genre.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
Places inspire me. I wanted to write about this particular downtrodden area of Providence, RI, which used to be a manufacturing mecca. Now it's just beautiful old factory buildings that are sitting empty. It's really haunting, and it sparked the idea for the novel.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
It took about a year and a half from first sentence to release. Getting through the edit phase and getting it ready to publish took up about 6 months of that time. I didn't realize how long that process would take.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
I really enjoy living with my characters. They're like the perfect roommates. They are funny and interesting, but they don't make a mess and are quiet when you need them to be!

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Like other writers, I struggle with 'writers block.' But I don't think it's "block" exactly. Sometimes I just hate what I write. I just finished a chapter on the follow up to this book, and it was agony to write because I just wasn't happy with it. But, it was better than sitting there and staring at a blank screen. I'll fix it in editing.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
This is a tough question! I guess I would want to be Katy Perry. I'd love to be in my 20s and wear wacky clothes again. Plus, she goes to amusement parks! Yes please!

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
I have a few bottles of beer that I bought about 5 months ago that I just don't like. So that's sitting in the back of the fridge, taking up space until someone drinks them for me!

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
Book two in the Hell's Belle series, tentatively titled Tainted Blood, will be out in 2014. Not sure exactly when yet. Hoping around this time.
